ANAB - Architettura Naturale

The ANAB certification program evaluates building products and furniture against bioecological sustainability criteria established by Italy's National Association of Bioecological Architecture (ANAB). Administered in partnership with ICEA, an independent accredited certification body, it assesses whether products meet requirements related to raw material sourcing, manufacturing safety, indoor air quality, and end-of-life recyclability. Products must be made primarily from renewable, mineral, or recyclable secondary resources, sourced locally where possible, and produced without substances hazardous to human health or the environment.

The program covers two product categories: construction materials (Bioedilizia) and bioecological furniture (Bioarredo). Certified products must also come with documentation supporting sustainable installation and maintenance practices. ANAB developed its technical standards in collaboration with the Austrian institute IBO and the German institute IBN, and the certification is recognized by major green building rating systems in Italy, including ITACA, CasaClima, and LEED. It also supports compliance with Italy's Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) for green public procurement.

This certification is best suited for Italian manufacturers of building materials, construction products, or furniture who want independent verification of their products' sustainability credentials. It is particularly relevant for companies whose customers include architects, designers, or developers working on certified green building projects, or those seeking to qualify for public procurement tenders that require demonstrated environmental compliance.
