Lembaga Indonesia Ekolabel

Lembaga Ekolabel Indonesia (LEI), or the Indonesian Ecolabelling Institute, is a nonprofit, multi-stakeholder organization that develops and administers forest certification systems in Indonesia. Its mission centers on promoting just, transparent, and sustainable management of forest and natural resources, with an emphasis on ecological, social, and economic balance. LEI operates independently and is structured to include participation from a broad range of stakeholders, including government bodies, industry, civil society, and indigenous communities.

LEI offers certification schemes covering four main areas: natural forest management, plantation forest management, community-based forest management, and Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for industries that process and trade forest products such as furniture, plywood, sawn timber, and pulp and paper. Each scheme is designed to verify that forest resources are being managed and sourced responsibly, in accordance with LEI's standards for sustainability and equity.

This certification is relevant for Indonesian forest operators, timber producers, and manufacturers who want credible, locally developed verification of their forestry practices.
