Naturemade

Naturemade is a Swiss certification label for energy products, administered by VUE (Association for Environmentally Sound Energy). It provides independent verification that energy is sourced from renewable or ecologically responsible origins, helping energy suppliers and producers demonstrate the environmental credentials of their products to consumers and businesses.

The program operates at two tiers. Naturemade Basic certifies energy derived from renewable sources such as hydro, wind, or solar. Naturemade Star sets a higher bar, requiring that energy production also meets strict ecological standards — for example, minimizing harm to local ecosystems and biodiversity. Both labels are backed by a coalition of environmental organizations, consumer groups, renewable energy associations, and energy companies of varying sizes.

Naturemade is relevant for energy suppliers and producers operating in Switzerland who want credible, third-party recognition of their sustainability commitments. It also serves large energy consumers seeking to substantiate green energy procurement claims. The label is recognized across the Swiss energy sector and gives buyers a clear, standardized way to distinguish between basic renewable energy and production held to a higher ecological standard.
