SeaChoice

SeaChoice is a Canadian sustainable seafood advisory program run by Sustainable Seafood Canada, a coalition of environmental organizations that includes the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Ecological Action Centre, Living Oceans Society, and the BC Chapter of the Sierra Club of Canada. The program evaluates seafood options available to Canadian consumers and businesses based on criteria such as stock health, habitat and ecosystem impacts, bycatch levels, species vulnerability, and the strength of fishery management practices.

Rather than certifying individual products, SeaChoice produces consumer-facing advisory guides and species recommendations that indicate whether a given seafood choice is sustainable, should be avoided, or falls somewhere in between. Businesses that display the SeaChoice logo on their products do so based on sourcing information they provide to the program, and the endorsement reflects SeaChoice's assessment of that sourcing rather than a formal third-party audit or product certification.
