WQA Gold Seal

The WQA Gold Seal Certification Program is the oldest third-party testing and certification program in the water treatment industry, operated by the Water Quality Association. It is designed for manufacturers and suppliers seeking to certify products that come into contact with household water, including filtration systems, water softeners, plumbing components, and chemicals. Certification confirms that a product has been independently tested against recognized industry standards for performance, structural integrity, material safety, and contaminant reduction.

The program goes beyond simple product testing. Certified manufacturers undergo regular facility inspections and are required to retest their products on an ongoing basis to ensure that what is being produced continues to meet the same standards as when certification was first granted. Product literature is also reviewed to ensure that any claims made to consumers are accurate and substantiated.

The Gold Seal mark is recognized by consumers, retailers, and regulators across the United States and in numerous international markets. For manufacturers, certification can be a practical requirement, as some U.S. states and local jurisdictions mandate third-party certification before a product can be legally sold. For buyers, the mark provides an independent assurance that a product will perform as advertised. The program is accredited by ANSI and operates under public-domain NSF/ANSI standards.
