Green-e Energy

Green-e Energy is a certification program that verifies renewable energy products — such as green power plans, renewable energy certificates (RECs), and community solar offerings — meet rigorous environmental and consumer protection standards. It operates across the United States and Canada and is administered by the Center for Resource Solutions, a national nonprofit focused on sustainable energy policy and market development. The program has been running since 1997, making it one of the longest-standing voluntary renewable energy certification programs in North America.

For energy suppliers and retailers, Green-e Energy certification signals that their products have been independently verified to meet a transparent, stakeholder-developed standard. The certification process involves annual verification of sales and supply data, ensuring that the renewable energy being sold to customers is real, tracked, and not double-counted.
