Minergie

Minergie is a Swiss building certification standard for both new construction and renovations, recognized across Switzerland, France, and Liechtenstein. It focuses on occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term building value through high-quality building envelopes and continuous fresh air renewal. To earn the base Minergie label, a building's total energy consumption must not exceed 75% of a comparable standard building, and fossil fuel consumption must stay below 50% of the benchmark.

The program offers several tiers to match different project goals. Minergie-P and Minergie-A apply progressively stricter energy requirements, while the ECO add-on incorporates health and ecological criteria. For renovation projects, a simplified certification process called Minergie Systemerneuerung is available. At the district scale, Minergie-Areale addresses mixed developments combining existing and new buildings, targeting very low energy use, minimized greenhouse gas emissions, and maximum reliance on renewable energy.

Beyond design and construction, Minergie also covers ongoing performance. The MQS Bau quality assurance process monitors compliance during the construction phase, while Minergie-Betrieb and Monitoring+ help ensure that energy consumption and operating costs remain low throughout the building's life. This makes Minergie relevant not just at the point of certification, but across the full building lifecycle.
